Revolution Money Exchange RME
I decided to take the plunge and be one of the few cloth diaper stores to accept RME payments. What is RME? It's kind of like PayPal. But no fees. Yet. LOL Well... there are some fees. Like $2.50 for a paper check of your funds instead of transfer to a bank account.
One way RME is different than PayPal... you can only spend what's in your account. If you have $19.99 in your account and want to spend $20, you can't. At least that's my understanding. And if you go into "overdraft" then you get dinged with fees. No different than a bank.
Be prepared for a long wait for your money to go from your bank account to your RME account and vice versa. Long wait = several days.
If you have the right amount of money in your account, and you pay a money request, the transfer is instant.
If you don't have an RME account, and would like one, let me know! I will send you an "invitation" and RME will deposit $25 in your account for free (after you set up your account)! What could one buy for $25? Hmmmm.... tough one. Cloth diapers with free shipping come to mind! Click on the "contact us" button on the top right side of my website and shoot me an email, or leave me a comment here!
There is a lot more to RME, but that's it in a nutshell. I am not putting 100% faith in it yet... but so far so good. I have has several transactions so far, and no problems. I know from my point of view there are issues, but from a customer's point of view, far less. So for now, RME payments are welcome at Cloth Babies.

Poop and diaper sprayers
So, my baby (almost 13 months old) has been eating solids well enough to make for messy (read mushy) poops in his diaper. Up until he had smelly, real food poops, I just put his breast milk poopy diapers in the wash as is. I didn't dunk or rinse or anything like that. The first cold wash in the washing machine was always quite yellow. Didn't bother me. But once he started eating solids (another late bloomer, like his brother) I started dunking and swishing the diapers. Never bothered me with DS1... but DS2 likes to get into EVERYTHING. And I just happened to have several diaper sprayers in stock (bumGenius brand). So DH installed it. Very easy to install! And boy oh boy! How did I live without one of these?!?! No more swishing a poopy diaper around in the toilet bowl! Just spray and sqeeze out the excess water (the sqeezing part doesn't seem to be an obvious step for my husband). How easy is that? There is even a lever to shut the water off to the sprayer when not in use. I am sure I will get good use out of that lever once my baby floods my mater bathroom because, at present, I don't use said lever. :)

Exciting News!
A freelance journalist contacted a Yahoo group I moderate about doing an article on the first few days home after having a baby. I readily answered her questionaire, and made a comment about my cloth diaper store. She is very interested in doing a story about Cloth Babies! She is writing the first article for Baby Talk, but has a weekly online column on parenting, and is going to feature my store and cloth diapers in an upcoming article! Woo Hoo! I am SO excited! She says her column gets about 25K hits a week!
Long time no see!
My intention was to post frequently here! Hahaha! Who has time to blog? Well, I am trying. What's new at Cloth Babies? Well, at present, the website is down. Grrrr! My ISP doesn't know the meaning of static IP. So I am waiting for the DNS thing to happen.
We (my husband and I) are not happy with Vonage right now. To the point my husband wants to cancel our account. We've been with them 2.5 years or so. Our Vonage router died. They cost $120 for a new one. So my husband found one on eBay to use. A week and a half later (with no home phone service that whole time) the router finally arrived (yesterday). My husband installed it and called Vonage to "turn it on". Well, apprently, you're not allowed to buy used Vonage routers... only new ones. So if you have a perfectly fine router and cancel your Vonage, they want you to throw it away. Nice for our environment, huh? What happen to recycle/reuse? On top of that... the guy we bought the router from (eBay) has an unpaid Vonage bill that we were going to have to pay before the router could be turned on. So my husband is dealing with trying to get back our money from this eBay guy, and dealing with Vonage. He's so mad, and I don't blame him. I was all for cancelling our account and going with our cable company's VOIP.... until I realized the 5000 business cards I have all have my toll free number on them, which I have through Vonage. If I can't transfer that number, I am SOL. Ugh. What to do what to do what to do.... What's sad is Vonage doesn't seem to care they're losing a customer. A customer, who until now, praised Vonage and encouraged people to use it. Not anymore! Now I want people to know how unhappy I am!
The only other thing that is new is a personal item... I belong to my local MOMS Club. I am the webmaster. The new executive board is taking nominations right now. My very good friend nominated me for VP. No biggie... I can handle that. But another very good friend nominated me for president. Eek! I am the shiest person in the world. And public speaking... oh boy. But everyone else that has been nominated has declined. So I feel compelled to accept the nomiation and put my fear of talking in front of people aside. The idea is starting to grow on me. But scares me at the same time. And my two friends who nominated me... they're still my friends. :)But neither can be nominated because one is moving back to CA and the other works full time (and is taking her masters at the same time in spanish). So I can't even return the favor. Oh well. :)

Still Confused?
So, spelling out the abbreviations didn't work? If I was new to cloth diapering, it wouldn't have helped me either! So here's what they really mean
AIO - All in one - Just like you'd imagine... it's one piece... a waterproof outer layer (can be fleeze, wool, PUL, vinyl... you name it) and an absorbant inner layer. Many AIO's these days have "flaps" sewn in, making drying quicker. AIO's have a bad reputation for taking forever to dry. Many newer ones have implemented the flaps, cutting down on drying time. Basically, what it is is the really absorbant material isn't swen into the middle of the diaper. It's partially sewn in. Make sense? For those without the flaps, just picture a disposable diaper. All the absorbant material is sewn into the diaper. They come in "one size fits all" or sized x-small, small, medium, medium-long (some brands, not all), large, x-large. You can also choose from velcro closure or snaps. What could be easier? Various brands of AIO's include Just Ducky Baby, Monkey Doodlez, Imse Vimse, Mommy's Touch, bumGenius, HoneyBoys!, and so many more!
Pocket Diapers - Pocket diapers are a great invention. They consist of a waterproof outer layer (usually PUL) with a fleece inner layer. At the back there is an opening for an insert. Don't even get me started on inserts! I don't even know all the inserts out there. But I do sell a lot of them. ANyway, back to pocket diapers. They also have snaps or velcro. You can stuff these diapers with as much, or as little, as you need to keep your baby dry. These make awesome night time diapers. My babies never leak at night. I double stuff a Fuzzi Bunz, Happy Heiny, or Mommy's Touch pocket diaper and my baby wakes up dry (on the outside anyway). Other brand names are DryBees, Disposanots, bumGenius, Monkey Doodlez, to name a few.
Fitted Diapers - Just like AIO's, but there isn't a waterproof outer layer, so these diapers require a waterproof diaper cover. There are really easy to find... and most people who make their own diapers make fitted diapers. Some brand names are Monkey Doodlez, Mommy's Touch, Imse Vimse, Bamboozles (awesome Bamboo diapers!), Heiny Huggers, Happy Hempys and so many more!
Time for bed... more to come soon!
